A sudden fire broke out at the Punjab National Bank in Dharmanagar town around 1 PM today causing panic among the staff and customers. The incident led to a chaotic scene as people scrambled to safety.
The Dharmanagar Fire Service was immediately informed and after being informed the Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot. After a while the firemen managed to bring the blaze under control. Thankfully, there were no reports of any casualties or significant property damage.
According to the Fire Service officials the fire originated from the old coils of a fan which caught fire and caused smoke to spread throughout the building. While the fire was quickly extinguished the panic it caused will take some time to subside.
Eyewitnesses reported that the suddenness of the incident led to a brief period of chaos and confusion. Even after the fire was out many people remained fearful and hesitant to resume their normal activities.
Bank officials and firemen have been trying to reassure the public that the situation is under control and that there is no need for alarm. However, the initial shock of the incident has left many people on edge.
