South Tripura District Launches Anti-Drug Campaign with Mass Rally

The South Tripura district administration on August 8 organized a large-scale awareness rally in South Tripura District sadar Belonia as part of the central government’s initiative to create a drug-free India.

Hundreds of school students carrying banners with anti-drug messages marched through the streets of Belonia drawing attention to the growing menace of substance abuse. District Magistrate & Collector and other senior administrative officials joined the rally, underscoring the administration’s commitment to the cause.

“Addiction has become a social malady, particularly affecting our youth and students, we’re launching a series of campaigns and awareness programs to combat this issue. Today’s rally is just the beginning.” said an official from District Administration.

The district administration’s initiative comes in response to rising concerns about drug abuse in the District. Krishna Chandra Gupta, IAS officer and additional district collector, outlined upcoming programs aimed at educating the public about the dangers of drug abuse.

“We’re planning sustained efforts to reach out to vulnerable groups, especially in schools and colleges, our goal is to create a drug-free environment for the next generation.” Gupta said.

The rally which saw active participation from various schools in Belonia is part of a broader strategy to involve the society in the fight against drug abuse. Officials emphasized that the campaign would continue in the coming months, with plans for more targeted interventions and awareness drives across the district.
