The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised for a landslide victory in the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections with 71% of the 605 gram panchayat seats already secured uncontested in Tripura. The party expects to win the remaining seats in elections scheduled for August 8.
Following the panchayat elections the state President of Bharatiya Janata Party Tripura Pradesh Rajib Bhattacharjee today held an organizational meeting at Rabindranagar Community Hall under Kathalia Block in Sonamura Sub-division to rally support before the polls.
While speaking with reporters after the meeting Bhattacharjee dismissed opposition tactics stating, “The opposition has no real issues to campaign on. They’re resorting to spreading misinformation about the BJP losing power but voters know that only BJP-led government can deliver overall development.”
Bhattacharjee humorously noted that the opposition’s focus on central issues even in local elections is a testament to the impact of Modi’s development initiatives particularly citing improved railway connectivity between Tripura and Delhi.
The state BJP leadership has announced plans to take action against party karyakartas accused of undermining the organization.
Following this matter Bhattacharjee said, “Action will be taken against those who are denigrating the party. District presidents have been instructed to prepare a report on this matter.”
Bhattacharjee outlined the process for addressing these issues adding, “Once we receive this report, we will discuss it with the state Prabhari Rajdeep Roy, the core committee, and the office bearers’ committee. These individuals will not be spared and appropriate punishment will be meted out to them.”
In the meeting several BJP leaders and karyakartas including State Secretary Moushumi Das, District President Debabrata Bhattacharjee, and MLA Bindu Debnath along with BJP-nominated candidates for the three-tier panchayat election were present.
