Tripura State Police Arrest Two Bangladeshi Women and Two Indian Trafficker
The Nutan Bazar Police station officials arrested two Bangladeshi women while being smuggled to another state last night. Along with the Bangladeshi residents the police also arrested two persons named Suresh Chakma who is involved in the trafficking and a Maruti Eeco Van.
The incident took place in the early hours of this Saturday at the Bairagi Dukan area under the Nutan Bazar Police Station. Seven smartphones and Rs 65,400 were recovered from their procession.
It was learned that following some secret information the Nutan Bazar Police Station conducted a raid at the Bairagi Dukan area at around 3 AM on Saturday. During the raid the police saw that two Bangladeshi women were being prepared to be taken to Agartala in an Eeco Van from Chakma’s house in the Bairagi Dukan area. The police arrested the two Bangladeshi women along with Chakma and brought them to the Nutan Bazar Police Station.
During initial interrogation the arrested two Bangladeshi women told the police that they were Indian citizens. They even showed the police two Aadhaar cards with their pictures taken on their mobiles. According to the Aadhaar card one’s address was Bangalore and the other was a resident of Mumbai. They told the police that they had come to Tripura by mistake. The police also found inconsistencies in the statements of Chakma and for this he was arrested on suspicion of being involved in trafficking.
After being informed about the operation, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy reached the Nutan Bazar Police Station on Saturday morning. At the end of a long interrogation by the police the two arrested women confessed that they were Bangladeshi citizens and they have confessed that they entered India with the intention of going to Kolkata with the help of an agent.
Meanwhile, after searching their bags the police recovered Rs 65,400 in cash, 7 smartphones and 2 keypad mobiles. At the end of the police interrogation the two Bangladeshi women, trafficker Chakma and car driver Sanjit Tripura were handed over to the Amarpur Sub-divisional Court on Saturday.
