Tripura Police destroys 25 country-made liquor production houses and seize 200 litre liquors

The Dharmanagar Police Station staff led by Officer-In-Charge Himadri Sarkar conducted a raid at the Rajnagar area under Panisagar Block in North Tripura District on July 13 which ended with destroying over 25 illegal country-made liquor production plants.

The early morning operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 200 liters of illicit country-made liquor. However, the main accused identified as Satyendra Shukla Baidya alias Satya managed to evade arrest along with his associates as somehow he sensed the raid earlier.

It was learned that the illegal liquor manufacturing plants were allegedly operated by Baidya who is believed to have controlled the whole supply chain from procuring raw materials to distributing the finished product. Local residents had been complaining about the nuisances caused by these plants including noise pollution and anti-social activities in the area.

However, the police action has brought temporary relief to the residents who had been living in fear due to the rampant illegal liquor trade in the area. The factories were reportedly supplying liquor to the entire North Tripura District’s Sadar Dharmanagar which is contributing to various social and environmental problems.

While the police have assured the public of continuing their patrolling the challenge of preventing the resurgence of such illegal activities remains.
