North Tripura Embraces Greenery with Tree Plantation Drive in Dharmanagar
To enhance the green cover of the district a tree plantation drive has been initiated in North Tripura District’s Sadar Dharmanagar. The campaign has been undertaken by Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker and MLA of Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency Biswa Bandhu Sen who transformed the activity into a celebratory affair.
The drive was organized at the Jai Hind Club in Dharmanagar which saw enthusiastic participation from the locals.
While addressing the audience Sen expressed his views on the role of trees in human life and the pressing need to replenish the depleting green cover. Acknowledging the challenges posed by urbanization, he emphasized the importance of nurturing the newly planted saplings for their survival.
Meanwhile, Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairman Pradyot De Sarkar’s vision of a ‘Green Dharmanagar’ received praise from the Speaker Sen. He highlighted the importance of caring for the saplings with the same dedication as raising children, emphasizing that the success of the drive lies in the long-term care of the trees.
Drawing attention to the increasing health risks due to oxygen deficiency the Speaker stressed the crucial role of trees in maintaining ecological balance. He envisioned Dharmanagar as a model city, clean, green, and prosperous as tree plantation being a cornerstone of this vision.
