In a series of operations, the Border Security Force (BSF) demonstrated its crucial role along the India-Bangladesh border rescuing stranded workers and preventing cross-border crimes.

The BSF successfully evacuated 17 Indian workers from Bangladesh amid ongoing unrest. These employees of AFCONS Infrastructure Pvt Ltd were working on a 52 km four-lane road project from Akhaura to Kishoreganj.

“We received a distress call late in the evening,” said Patel Piyush Purusottam Das, IPS, Inspector General of Tripura Frontier BSF. “Our teams immediately coordinated with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to ensure safe passage for the workers through ICP Akhaura.”

The operation showcased seamless collaboration between BSF and BGB, facilitating the workers’ journey back to India.

Simultaneously, BSF troops apprehended three individuals attempting to cross the border fence near BOP Teberia in West Tripura district. In a separate incident, an Indian tout involved in human trafficking was detained in Kumarghat, Unakoti district.

The BSF also seized contraband worth Rs 7.25 lakhs, including 4.1 tonnes of sugar and 90 kg of ganja.
