Just three days ahead of the three-tier panchayat election, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused opposition parties of resorting to violence following an attack on BJP supporters at the Samatal Padmabil area in Khowai district of Tripura on August 3.

According to local BJP leaders, miscreants allegedly affiliated with opposition parties attacked the homes of two BJP supporters identified as Dilip Shukla Baidya and Sankar Deb on August 3 around at 11 PM.

The attack left four people severely injured including a woman. The victims identified as Subrata Deb (27), Shashankar Deb (45), Subrata Deb (34), and Jharna Deb (45), are currently undergoing treatment at the Khowai District Hospital.

Meanwhile, Ramchandraghat Mandal President Sanjib Debbarma along with Surajit Barua visited the injured at the hospital soon after they learned about the attack and while addressing the situation they accused TIPRA Motha, CPI(M), and Congress of orchestrating the attack.

“The opposition parties are resorting to such violent tactics out of fear of a crushing defeat in the upcoming three-tier panchayat elections,” Debbarma claimed.
