Tripura: Khowai District Congress Marks 82nd Quit India Movement Anniversary
The Khowai Block Congress under the banner of Indian National Congress commemorated multiple significant events on Friday including the 82nd anniversary of the Quit India Movement, National Youth Congress Foundation Day, and International Indigenous Peoples Day.
The celebrations took place at the Khowai Congress Bhavan where members of the District Congress Committee, Khowai Block Congress Committee, and Khowai Block Youth Congress Committee gathered to observe these occasions with due solemnity.
In a symbolic gesture, various leaders hoisted flags representing different facets of the Indian National Congress. District Congress Committee President Pradyot Bhattacharjee unfurled the national flag, while Block Congress President Jatindra Gope raised the party flag. Block Youth Congress President Tinku Modak hoisted the Youth Congress flag, and state INTUC leader Sukumar Debnath raised the INTUC flag.
As part of the Youth Congress Foundation Day celebrations members conducted a tree-planting drive at several locations throughout Khowai town emphasizing the organization’s commitment to environmental causes.
The event saw participation from key Congress figures including District Congress Committee General Secretary Nikhil Chakraborty and Block Congress Committee General Secretary Pradyot Biswas. Other notable attendees were Gopal Das, Sanjit Deb, Manik Miah, and Sanjan Das. Malay Chakraborty, a local poet, writer, and social worker, was also present at the function.
