BSF and Tripura Police Crack Jointly Apprehend 11 Bangladeshi Nationals and Seize Contraband Worth Rs 72 Lakh
In two coordinated operations, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police have successfully apprehended 11 Bangladeshi nationals and seized drug paraphernalia and contraband worth Rs 72 lakh.
The operations which took place in the Gajaria and Amtali areas were conducted in response to secret inputs by sources about illegal activities. The BSF and Tripura Police worked together to raid suspected locations, resulting in the arrest of eight Bangladeshi nationals, including a female tout, from Muslim Para, Gajaria. “A total of eight Bangladeshi nationals, including a female tout, were arrested from Muslim Para, Gajaria. During preliminary interrogation, they admitted to entering India illegally,” the BSF stated.
In a separate operation, Amtali police and BSF detained three Bangladeshi nationals at a mobile check post in the Amtali area.
The BSF also conducted a joint raid with the Kalamchoura police station, resulting in the recovery of 10,000 Yaba tablets worth more than Rs 50 lakh. Additionally, a raid on a rubber plantation near Krishna Nagar yielded 9,500 packets of cigarettes, valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh.
The BSF emphasized the importance of these operations in maintaining border security, preventing illegal immigration, and curbing drug trafficking. The force reiterated its commitment to combating smuggling and protecting the nation’s borders.
