Tripura: Road Accident on National Highway Claims One Life, Leaves Three Injured
A devastating road accident occurred on the Assam-Agartala National Highway No. 8 in North Tripura District, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. The collision between an empty dumper and a truck loaded with rice happened around 2:30 AM on Tuesday, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos.
The accident involved a 16-wheeler dumper (TR01AU-1908) and a 12-wheeler truck (AS01LC-6568), which crashed head-on in front of the Shanicherra Primary Health Center. The impact was so severe that both vehicles suffered extensive damage, trapping the drivers and co-drivers inside.
Local residents rushed to the scene and rescued three individuals – Montaj Ali, Muktadur Hossain, and Rohit Ahmed – with the help of firefighters from the Premtala fire office. However, co-driver Sajul Islam remained trapped inside the twisted dumper for over an hour before being rescued and taken to the nearby health center.
Despite receiving treatment, Sajul Islam succumbed to his injuries en route to Silchar Hospital. The condition of Montaj Ali remains critical, while the other injured individuals are receiving treatment at Silchar Hospital.
The Churaibari police have launched an investigation into the accident, registering the case as a road accident. Further inquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.
