Tripura: Mentally Ill Son Decapitates Mother with Chopper

A young son has been accused of brutally murdering his own mother in the village of Radhanagar. The gruesome crime, which took place on the night of July 16, has left the village reeling in horror and disbelief.
The accused son has been identified as Haricharan Jhara (26) who allegedly attacked his mother Parbati Jhara (55) with a sharp chopper while she was sleeping, severing her head. The motive behind the heinous crime is still unclear but police have taken the son into custody and are investigating the incident.

They don’t think even once before committing evil and wrongdoing, causing society to deteriorate day by day. Under the influence of Kali Yuga, people can do whatever they please, even killing their own mother with a chopper (Dao). Such an incident took place at Radhanagar village under Khowai Police Station in Tripura on 16th of July late night.
According to police Haricharan Jhara (26) the youngest son of Parbati Jhara (55) a resident of Radhanagar village cut his mother’s throat with a sharp weapon while she was sleeping, severing her head. It was learned that the deceased Parbati Jhara had five sons and the youngest committing this act.
It was reported that he committed this murder due to mental illness. However, local sources and his elder brother Krishnadhan Jhara informed that Haricharan had been suffering from mental illness for a year. Previously, he worked in others’ rubber plantations but for the past year he had been mentally ill, not working, staying at home all day, talking to himself and sometimes troubling local residents.
On July 16 Parbati reportedly told her son that she would take him to a doctor. She even bought medicines after consulting a doctor, according to Krishnadhan Jhara.
Meanwhile, after being informed a large police force led by the Sub-divisional Police Officer Prasun Kanti Majumdar and Officer-in-Charge of Khowai Police Station Subir Malakar, and Additional Superintendent of Police arrived at the scene.
They found Haricharan sitting on the bed with a chopper (Dao) having separated his mother’s head and body on the floor. The police first surrounded the house and planned to use tear gas if Haricharan attacked them while breaking down the door.
However, this wasn’t necessary as the police and Tripura State Rifles jointly broke both doors and immediately overpowered and restrained the accused. Finally, the police arrested Haricharan Jhara and brought him to the police station.
Meanwhile, a forensic team arrived at the scene to investigate if there were any other reasons behind the murder. The body was taken to Khowai District Hospital morgue for post-mortem and later handed over to the other four sons. Police have started an investigation after filing a murder case.
