In a successful anti-ganja operation Ambassa Police Station officials seized a massive 232 kg of cannabis from two vehicles on Monday night at the Upanagar Naka Point under Ambassa Police Station in Tripura.

While speaking with the media persons, the Officer-In-Charge of the Ambassa Police Station Gurupada Debnath informed that the police had received secret informations from their sources about cannabis-laden vehicles traveling from Agartala to Ambassa and moving towards Manu.

Based on that information they set up a trap at the Upanagar Naka Point, but somehow the smugglers noticed the police they run away from there and leave there vehicles behind.

Meanwhile, after a thorough search of the vehicles police recovered 67 packets of cannabis weighing 232 kg that were hidden in the secret compartments of the vehicles.

Debnath further stated that the police will continue to conduct such anti-ganja operations in the future. However, as the date of three-tier Panchayat elections is coming nearer which is scheduled to be held on August 8, there is a concern that drug traffickers may become more active. The police are taking necessary steps to curb drug trafficking alongside their election duties.
