A major accident took place last night on the North Tripura District Hospital Road in Dharmanagar, Tripura when a Bolero car bearing the registration number TR06-4201 crashed into an electric pole. The impact of the collision caused the car to overturn while the electric pole snapped, sending live wires sprawling across the road.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Debasish Deb, a resident of Halaipar under Kailashahar Sub-division in Tripura, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He sustained injuries in the accident and was promptly taken to the North District Hospital in Dharmanagar by the Fire Service personnel.
Following the incident, power supply to the entire area was disrupted as a precautionary measure. Repair work on the damaged electric lines commenced on July 12 early morning and is expected to continue throughout the day.
Immunity Diagnostic Clinic’s doctor Dr. Saulima Ghosh who suffered minor damages in the incident expressed relief at the minimal impact on the clinic. She emphasized the driver’s severe intoxication as the primary cause of the accident and highlighted the potential for a major catastrophe had there been people on the road at the time of the crash.
Deb initially claimed the car belonged to his sister and he is currently under police custody at Dharmanagar Police Station for further investigation.
