The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday seized ten cows that were being smuggled to Bangladesh and arrested two people involved in the illicit trade.

The incident took place when BSF jawans from the 179th Battalion stopped two vehicles carrying the cows. The smugglers reportedly clashed with the BSF jawans and some local women attempted to obstruct the security forces from doing their duty.
Meanwhile, after being informed the Dharmanagar Police Station officials reached to the location to assist the BSF jawans. They successfully apprehended the smugglers and freed the women from obstruction.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Liakat Ali and Islam Uddin, residents of Sakaibari area under Dharmanagar Sub-division in Tripura, reportedly confessed to delivering the cows to Bachu Mia who is the resident of Fatikroy under Kumarghat Block in Tripura is also known to be involved in cattle smuggling to Bangladesh.
The BSF handed over the seized cows, a Bolero car used in the smuggling attempt and the two arrested individuals to the Dharmanagar Police Station for further investigation.
