The regional political party of Tripura state TIPRA Motha has commenced its door-to-door campaign at the Charilam area under Aralia Gram Panchayat in Tripura starting at the residence of Shahid Miah who was tragically killed in a political clash in Charilam Bazar in the year of 2023. The party has fielded Alekha Khatun who is the daughter-in-law of Miah’s younger brother’s younger son as its candidate for Ward No. 2 of Aralia Gram Panchayat.
This morning with a large number of TIPRA Motha party workers and supporters holding the party flags embarked on a campaign rally which was starting from Shahid Miah’s residence. Their goal is to secure a landslide victory for Khatun under the party’s pineapple symbol and to ensure that all eight TIPRA Motha candidates in the Aralia Gram Panchayat win their respective wards.
Shah Alam Miah who is the chairman of the TIPRA Motha’s minority cell along with other party leaders including Bisramganj TTADC Sub-Zonal Chairman Sanjit Debbarma, local area leaders Nazrul Hossain, Jutan Miah and Pandab Debbarma led the campaign. They reported receiving positive feedback from the villagers during their door-to-door visits.
However, the political atmosphere of Aralia Gram Panchayat’s Ward No. 1 has become quite intriguing due to a face-off between two female candidates Alekha Khatun of the TIPRA Motha and Shiuli Begam of the ruling BJP. This contest between two housewives has created a buzz in the local political arena.
Villagers have noted that the campaign style in Aralia Gram is unique even in the context of the three-tier panchayat elections across the state. Despite the rhetoric of unity the ground reality suggests that both parties are fiercely contesting for every inch of electoral territory.
