Heavy Rainfall Destroy 25 Houses and 12 People Seek Shelter In Relief Camps Across Tripura
Heavy rainfall lashed Tripura on Wednesday, causing widespread damage across the state. As many as 25 houses have been affected and 12 people displaced and currently seeking shelter in relief camps.
One house was completely destroyed in Teliamura Sub-division in Khowai district of Tripura, while three others suffered partial damage. The situation was even worse in Karbook, Gomati district, where landslides hit three areas, damaging six houses partially and severely affecting 16 others.
Landslides and fallen trees also obstructed roads in Belonia, Sabroom, and Santibazar sub-divisions but are being cleared by the PWD, SDRF, Fire Services, and emergency teams.
While major rivers like Howrah, Khowai, and Gomati are below flood levels, the Muhuri river in the South district has crossed the danger mark. The Feni river is also rising.
The state is bracing for more rain as a thunderstorm warning has been issued for all districts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in isolated areas of Khowai, Dhalai, Sepahijala, West, South, and Gomati districts.
