
In a late-night raid at the Panisagar naka point on the Assam-Agartala National Highway, Panisagar Police Station officials apprehended seven individuals from a bus travelling from Agartala to Guwahati.
It was learned that acting on secret information the bus bearing the registration number AS-01LC-1412 was intercepted and searched.
Upon interrogation, it was revealed that all seven individuals were citizens of Bangladesh who had illegally entered Tripura via Akhaura without proper documentation. They had boarded the long-distance bus on July 31, aiming to reach Mumbai.
Among the arrested, two individuals were identified as transgender while the remaining five were impersonating transgender individuals. They had been deceiving people to earn a livelihood.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bahar Hossain (17) from Comilla district, Saddam (23) from Mymensingh district, Abid Hasan (18) from Bhola Barishal district, Shubh Das (16) from Savar district, Munni Das (18) from Natore district, Billal Hussain (22) from Gazipur district, and Md. Togor Hussain (26) from Jessore district, all from Bangladesh.
Each of them had an alias. During interrogation it was found that three of the arrested individuals were newcomers to India while the remaining four had been residing in various Indian cities including Mumbai for several years. Their primary motive was to earn a living by deceiving people through their impersonation as transgender individuals.
