BJP Dominates Campaign Trail in North Tripura

With just a week remaining before the state’s three-tier panchayat elections the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its campaign efforts at the Dewanpasa Gram Panchayat under Jubaraj Nagar Assembly Constituency and significantly outpacing opposition activities.

Local BJP leaders including Zila Parishad candidate Dilip Bardhan, Panchayat Samiti candidate Shilu Nath and veteran politician Bimal Biswas were observed actively canvassing the area. Biswas who is a five-time contestant has expressed confidence in a clean sweep for the BJP mirroring their success in the previous election where they secured all 11 seats in the panchayat.

“We’ve made substantial progress in local development,” Biswas stated while listing achievements including the brick-paving of several roads, construction of four RCC bridges, and implementation of various central government schemes. He reported that 424 houses were built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 550 toilets were constructed and 350 farmers benefited from the Kisan Nidhi scheme.

The panchayat which is home to approximately 2,800 voters has also seen improvements in electricity and water supply. Biswas claimed that 90% of residents now have Ayushman Bharat Health Cards and nearly half receive rice and other benefits from central government programs.

Despite the opposition Congress fielding candidates their campaign presence has been notably minimal. The BJP’s door-to-door outreach led by various party leaders has reportedly garnered positive responses from residents.
