Tripura: No-Confidence Motion Filed Against Dharmanagar Municipal Council Chairman
A no-confidence motion has finally been filed against the chairman of the Dharmanagar Municipal Council Pradyot De Sarkar. On July 24 as many as 21 out of the 25 councillors of the municipality submitted a signed no-confidence motion to the Dharmanagar Sub-divisional Magistrate Shyamjoy Jamatia, after the submission of the no-confidence motion the chairman no longer has any administrative responsibilities.
It was learned that due to some internal reasons the functioning of the Dharmanagar Municipal Council has been completely disrupted for the past three days, and even ordinary people are not receiving the services they are entitled to as citizens of Dharmanagar, despite visiting various offices.
In response to the situation the Sub-divisional Magistrate has stated that there are no more administrative complexities after the no-confidence motion was filed today.
While speaking with the media persons Pradyot De Sarkar said that he has not received any instructions from higher authorities, i.e., the state president or officials. He indicated that he would abide by whatever directives the state BJP issues.
Meanwhile, following the no-confidence motion a group of local journalists attempted several times to contact the BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee but he did not receive the call from his office initially, and the second time after half an hour he received the call but avoided the matter, stating that he was busy.
Naturally, the matter of the Dharmanagar Municipality chairman has reached a complex stage as the state president is trying to avoid any questions on the matter.
